FAQ

How do I choose the right kimono size?

Traditional kimonos are generally one size fits most, designed to be adjustable with obi belts. However, our product descriptions include detailed measurements for length, width, and sleeve length to help you find the perfect fit. If you need assistance, feel free to contact us, and we’ll be happy to help you find the right size.

Are the kimonos you sell authentic vintage pieces?

Yes, all of our kimonos are authentic vintage pieces, carefully sourced from Japan. Each kimono is a unique, one-of-a-kind garment with its own history, reflecting the timeless artistry and craftsmanship of Japanese culture. In addition to our vintage selection, some of our kimonos are genuine antiques, offering an even rarer connection to Japan’s rich heritage and traditional fashion.

What is the condition of your vintage kimonos?

While we strive to offer kimonos in excellent condition, vintage items may show some signs of wear, such as minor stains, fading, or fabric flaws. Each listing includes a detailed condition report with photos
highlighting any notable imperfections. This transparency allows you to make an informed purchase, appreciating the kimono’s vintage nature.

How should I care for my vintage kimono?

Vintage kimonos are delicate and require special care. We recommend avoiding machine washing and instead using professional dry cleaning services that specialize in handling vintage fabrics. Store your kimono in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. If you have specific care questions, please reach out for personalized advice.

Do you offer international shipping?

Yes, we offer shipping to Finland and across Europe. Our goal is to ensure that your order reaches you promptly and safely, no matter where you are within these regions. Shipping rates and delivery times may vary depending on your location, but we strive to provide a smooth and reliable experience for all our customers.

Can I return or exchange my kimono if it doesn’t fit?

Yes, you can return or exchange your kimono if it doesn’t fit, as long as it is returned in its original condition and packaging, unworn and unaltered. Please note that since our kimonos are vintage, signs of age and wear are part of their unique charm and history, and returns cannot be accepted for these reasons. In accordance with European return policies, you have 14 days from receiving your order to initiate a return or exchange. Shipping costs for returns are the responsibility of the customer.

Can I request a custom kimono search?

Absolutely! If you’re looking for a specific style, pattern, or era, please contact us with your request. We have access to a vast network of suppliers in Japan and will do our best to find the perfect kimono for you.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept a variety of payment methods, including credit cards, and other secure online payment options. All transactions are encrypted to ensure your data is safe and secure.

How do I wear a kimono properly?

Traditionally, wearing a kimono involves a technique called "kitsuke," which includes specific steps for layering and tying the obi (belt).

While this can be a beautiful and meaningful way to wear the kimono, it can also be quite challenging for beginners. If you find kitsuke too complex, we encourage you to embrace a more casual, street-style approach. Enjoy the kimono in your own way—whether you choose to dress it up or keep it casual. As we always say, "Be you, Be your own style." Your kimono should reflect your unique personality and make you feel confident!
