Description: This women’s kimono and haori set is a beautiful example of mid-20th-century Japanese design, dating from the late 1950s to early 1970s. The kimono is hitoe (unlined) and made in a classic komon style, featuring a traditional kasuri pattern. The black base is decorated with geometric cross motifs in red and white, a design traditionally associated with protection, balance, and harmony, symbolizing interconnected paths and continuity in everyday life.
The haori is lined and echoes the same kasuri pattern on the exterior. Inside, it reveals a contrasting pink synthetic silk lining adorned with floral motifs, adding a soft and feminine accent. The haori retains its original haori himo, enhancing its authenticity.
Fabric: Very fine wool for both kimono and haori, offering a lightweight yet structured feel. The kimono is hitoe (unlined), while the haori features a synthetic silk inner lining with floral decoration.
Style: Women’s komon kimono and lined haori set, suitable for casual and everyday wear. The set may be worn together for a coordinated look, or the haori can be styled individually, pairing beautifully with modern Western clothing.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The textiles are well preserved, color remain clear, and the original haori himo is intact, with only minimal, age-appropriate wear.
